Annie Cantrell, RN, IBCLC
I have been helping new parents and their babies for 13 years. I started as a birth doula in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I then went to school to become a registered nurse. I worked labor & delivery, postpartum and the special care nursery within several different hospitals.
I then transitioned to out-of-hospital birth work at the WNC Birth Center (now Lilac). Here I deepened my love for working with postpartum and breastfeeding families. There I completed 90+ hours of course work in lactation and infant feeding coupled with 1000+ hours of clinical practice to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Since then I have breastfed my own 2 children and journeyed through the highs and lows of motherhood. I currently work seeing families privately to help them achieve their infant feeding goals.
Outside of of all of that I am a plant nerd that loves playing in my garden, the mountains of Western North Carolina and experimenting with natural plant dyes. I also enjoy biking, reading and sewing clothes. But in reality I am chasing 2 little boys around!
